Our denomination, the Evangelical Covenant Church, has it roots in the great spiritual awakenings out of the Lutheran Church of Sweden. While we embrace the idea that we are a "non-creedal" church, we affirm these 5 emphases to our life in Christ!

The Centrality of the Scriptures:
We believe the Old and New Testaments are the authoritative Word of God, and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct.

The Necessity of New Birth:
New birth is our entrance into God's Kingdom, through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and is our anchor point for continuing growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Church as a Fellowship of New Believers:
Our church family is supported by a confession of personal faith in Jesus Christ, and characterized by mutual participation in the ministries of our church and sharing of our new life in Christ.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit:
We realize we would be nothing without the power, gifts, and guidance of - together with the Father and the Son - the Holy Spirit.

The Reality of Freedom in Christ:
Jesus delivers us from the power of sin and moves us to experience obedience and "life to the full". This freedom of life in Christ allows us to embrace Biblical guidelines of all doctrine and conduct while understanding the reality of differences in interpretation and doctrine. With the Word of God as our only tool to use in these discussions, we "agree to disagree" so we are stronger together as a family in Jesus Christ.

We are excited about these descriptions of what Covenanters believe, as we are waiting for that day when, "the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign for ever and ever." {Revelation 11:15}
