  • Your Feedback matters

We want to know how your first and second visits to First Covenant went. More importantly, how can we be in prayer for you?

All comments go to our staff so we can pray and encourage the congregation to the greatest hospitality possible.

  • We want to Bless Our Guests

Parking is available in our lot or on L street. There are marked handicap parking spots available and we have a lift (like an elevator) for all-weather access to the entire building.

We desire to love and glorify God, and also love our neighbor - our worship and ministries are designed to meet these goals. If you are attending worship at First Covenant for the first time, we encourage you to visit our Welcome Center where you may get some coffee and light snacks.

Please return to the Welcome Center after the service to receive your gift (typically a book). No obligations, no strings attached, it is our way of saying "thank you" for joining us in worship and we hope you will join us again.

  • Families can worship together

We think children are great and believe families should be able to worship together.  For the littlest, we offer nursery care during worship, and for those ages 3 through grade 3 we offer Children's Worship on the second, third and fifth Sundays of every month.

Children are invited for Children's Worship halfway through the service; parents pick up their children after the service.

  • Worship in Spirit & Truth

At First Covenant, we exist for God's glory. A typical service may include modern worship songs with a band as well as hymns with an organ. Our choir and handbells regularly participate in worship too. We use the gifts God has given us to worship in Spirit and in truth.

We generally dress more casual than formal. We take an offering during the service and believe this is a part of our worship. You are free to give, you are free to pass the plate, it is not about obligation but joyful giving to our common mission.

Communion is taken on the first Sunday of the month and is open to all believers. If you know and follow Jesus Christ, you are welcome at the table.

Our Beliefs

We have been in Lincoln since 1892. First Covenant is a part of the Evangelical Covenant Church which unites around six Biblical affirmations.

As a part of the Evangelical Covenant church, we are a communion of congregations gathered by God, united in Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to obey the great commandment and the great commission. It affirms its companionship in faith with other church bodies and all those who fear God and keep God’s commandments. The Evangelical Covenant Church adheres to the affirmations of the Protestant Reformation regarding the Bible. It confesses that the Holy Scripture, the Old and the New Testament,is the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. It affirms the historic confessions of the Christian Church, particularly the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed, while emphasizing the sovereignty of the Word of God over all creedal interpretations.  Affirmations (brief)   Affirmations (full)

  • Centrality of the Word of God

We believe the Bible is the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine, and conduct. The dynamic, transforming power of the word of God directs the church and the life of each Christian. This reliance on the Bible leads us to affirm both men and women as ordained ministers and at every level of leadership. It is the reason we pursue ethnic diversity in our church and is the inspiration for every act of compassion, mercy, and justice.
